We'd love to hear from you!

Wonder Journal welcomes pitches on pieces related to finding wonder in the world around you– whether these are essays, features, interviews, poetry, creative writing or reviews.

What is a pitch?

A pitch is a short outline of a piece you’d like to write. It includes an idea of the style of the piece (personal essay; reported feature; review), a brief context of the subject in question, and why people should care about the story.

Some tips for good pitches?

Tell us whether you’d like to write a longform or shortform piece, or include a proposed word count. (We consider a shortform piece to be between 500-1500 words and longform between 1500-2500 words). Photo essays are happily accepted too!

Keep your pitch concise – between one to three paragraphs.

Make sure your idea is clear, and supported by examples, if needed.

If this subject has been written about elsewhere, let us know how your piece will offer a new perspective and why you think it will be of interest to readers.

Anything else?

Please
include a few sentences about yourself in your email and let us know if you’ve published elsewhere before.
If you need to hear back by a certain date (for example, if the piece is related to an event or exhibition) please let us know when you get in touch.
